Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts

MISSION

To assist under-served women in obtaining high quality breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up services with the intent of detecting cancer in the early stages.

VISION

To decrease the morbidity and mortality rates associated with breast and cervical cancer by detecting the disease early.

STRUCTURE

The Bay Area Region 8, Central Valley Region 6, Gold Country Region 9, and Northern California Region 10 Cancer Partnerships are operated through the California Health Collaborative, with funding from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). These four Partnerships are part of the ten Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) Regional Contractors to assist health care professionals and women who are seeking breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services.

The Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts under the California Department of Public Health provides selected benefits to uninsured and underinsured women to reduce breast and cervical cancer mortality rates in California women. In addition to offering free screening and diagnostic services, the program is designed to facilitate annual re-screening of women with normal or benign breast and/or cervical conditions, and to provide follow-up services for women with possible diagnoses of breast and/or cervical cancer, including referral for treatment when necessary.

The six counties served by the Bay Area Cancer Partnership are: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Solano.
