Press Release

The Latino Coordinating Center (LCC) is excited to share that Vallarta Supermarkets has decided to stop of the sale of tobacco products in 34 of their 53 stores statewide including all stores in the Central Valley. This decision makes Vallarta Supermarkets the first and largest grocer in California to remove tobacco products from its shelves. Most importantly, Vallarta Supermarket’s trailblazing move reduces the availability and accessibility of tobacco products that may reduce the initiation of tobacco use among Latino youth. It may also encourage Latino adults who currently use tobacco to begin their journey towards quitting.  The LCC commends Vallarta Supermarkets for taking a step towards influencing better health in the communities they serve.
