Who We Are
LEAD stands for Learn Empower Advocate Develop. The goal of the LEAD Program is to promote and protect a tobacco-free lifestyle for all Butte County residents. We believe passionately in advocating for health equity and environmental justice.
Our Goals
- Advocating for Residents of Multi-Family Housing – By putting policies in place that limit exposure to smoke and vape mist, we hope to protect the health of Butte County residents that live in apartments, duplexes, and other multi-family housing. This helps to prevent poor health now and later in life. We believe limiting exposure to tobacco smoke is an environmental justice issue.
- Growing Community Advocates – We support and empower community members to become advocates for health and fight back against the tobacco industry’s intentional targeting of certain groups. Through partnerships with local organizations, we hope to empower communities to ask decision makers for what they truly need.
- Safe and Healthy Outdoor Spaces – Yes, the tobacco industry even impacts our outdoor spaces. We believe that community spaces should be free of exposure to smoke, vape mist, and toxic tobacco litter. Nicotine and other chemicals poison people, plants, and animals.
