Hispanic Latino Coordinating Center (HLCC)
Policy Platform
The Latino Coordinating Center (LCC) is excited to announce the release of its Policy Platform which is intended to help advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders advance the tobacco control priorities that will have the greatest positive impact in the Latino community. The Policy Platform focuses on reducing the burden of tobacco use and exposure among Latinos, taking into consideration the diversity within the community and centering its recommendations around health equity. The Policy Platform identifies four priorities considered most conducive to reducing tobacco use in this population and special considerations that need to be addressed to ensure that changes are equitable, inclusive of the Latino voice, and help to build capacity in the community. These priorities include:
- Prevent Youth Initiation of Tobacco Use
- Prevent Exposure to Secondhand Smoke and Aerosols
- Promote Tobacco Cessation
- Build Community Capacity and Leadership
