Who We Are

The Kings County Tobacco Control Program (KCTCP) works to create more collaborative opportunities to increase awareness of the impacts of tobacco and the deceptive marketing tactics of the tobacco industry. With funding support from the California Department of Public Health – Tobacco Prevention Program, KCTCP serves as the local lead agency (LLA) for tobacco prevention and control efforts in Kings County.

What We Do

KCTCP is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive tobacco control program for the county and establishing an active community coalition. Through community collaborations, youth engagement, and the implementation of policy campaigns, KCTCP actively works to achieve the following objectives.

Objectives

Collaborate with community leaders to develop a comprehensive tobacco retail license (TRL) policy that requires tobacco retailers to obtain a license to sell tobacco products that regulate the sale and distribution of tobacco products.

Mobilize community members and youth advocates to promote the adoption and implementation of policy that eliminates smoking in all outdoor recreational and non-recreational public places.

Maintain the county-wide Kings County Tobacco Control Coalition with representation from diverse organizations and community leaders whose goal is to improve the health and well-being of Kings County by supporting and elevating community voices, educating the public, and guiding tobacco control efforts.
