Perinatal Mental Health Integration Project (PMHIP)

Who We Are

The primary purpose of this project is to establish comprehensive integrated perinatal mental health system of care in Fresno and Madera counties, through:

  • the implementation of the Nurture 2 Nurture consultation service
  • trainings for medical, health care, and behavioral health professionals on perinatal mood disorder screening and treatment protocols
  • facilitation of support groups to increase access and enhance the quality of perinatal behavioral health services in Fresno and Madera Counties.

    Who We Are

    The focus on identifying pregnant women who are at high risk for developing depression, and to provide these high-risk women with an intervention aimed at preventing the onset of major depressive episodes during the pre and postpartum period. The targeted population to be served is mono-lingual Spanish-speaking Latina women, but may also include bi-lingual and English-speaking Latina women.
