Who We Are
How It Works
Rather than building infrastructure, Linda Leads focuses on community engagement, leadership development, and resident-driven planning. The work is built around three core activities:
Establishing a resident-majority Linda Community Advisory Board that includes youth, parents, elders, and tribal members alongside local community partners. The Board reviews community input, sets priorities, and votes on which transportation projects move forward.
Conducting two phases of multilingual community engagement and data collection in Spanish, Hmong, and English through surveys, pop-ups, workshops, and community events designed to reach those most affected by transportation inequities.
Producing documented community data summaries and a prioritized list of community-supported transportation projects ready to compete for future planning and implementation funding.
What You Need to Know
Nearly 90% of the Linda project area falls within disadvantaged and low-income census tracts. About 66% of residents are people of color. Commonly used streets like North Beale Road and Lindhurst Avenue lack continuous sidewalks, safe crossings, and connected bike lanes. State Route 70 runs directly through the community, separating homes from services while exposing residents to heavy traffic and air pollution. Transit options are limited and often unreliable, with many stops lacking shelters or safe access.
Linda Leads was designed to make sure the people most affected by these barriers have real influence over the solutions.
How Can I Help?
This work is driven by community. You can support Linda Leads by joining the Linda Community Advisory Board, participating in engagement activities, sharing information with neighbors, and connecting the team with local organizations and contacts that can help drive change.
