Who We Are
NorCal 4 Health is a community-based tobacco prevention program serving Del Norte and Humboldt Counties. We are committed to reducing the impact of commercial tobacco and nicotine use through education, community engagement, advocacy, and policy development. By working alongside local residents, youth, organizations, and decision-makers, we strive to create healthier, smoke-free communities where everyone can thrive.
Our Goals
Building Community Advocates: We empower community members to become leaders and advocates for health. Through partnerships with local organizations and residents, we help communities identify their needs, amplify their voices, and address the tobacco industry’s targeting of vulnerable populations. Together, we work to create meaningful change and promote health equity.
Educating Communities and Elevating Youth Voices: We believe that community members, especially youth, play a vital role in shaping healthier futures. Through education, outreach, and leadership opportunities, we support young people in sharing their experiences and perspectives. One example is Born to Breathe, our annual youth media festival that showcases youth-created projects focused on the impact of nicotine and tobacco use. The festival brings together families, community members, and local leaders to inspire dialogue, awareness, and action.
Supporting Community-Driven Policy Change: We work with community members and local decision-makers to advance policies that protect public health, particularly for populations most affected by tobacco-related harms. By providing education, resources, and technical support, we help communities pursue solutions that reflect their values and create lasting, positive impacts.
“The shape we give our community in turn shapes us.“
